Why Did Robin and Mariel's Movie 'Tum - My Pledge of Love' Flop?

It was reported that the movie of Robin Padilla and wife Mariel Rodriguez flopped at the big screen. According to starmometer.com

“Tum: My Pledge of Love” premiered in theaters last April 6 and got an average daily box-office gross of about P500 thousand to P750 thousand according to third party tabulator Box-office Mojo. This explains why some theaters in Mega Manila pulled out the movie early and did not even allow it to run for one whole week.

So why did it perform poorly? I guess it's the fact that a lot of fans didn't like the way Mariel Rodriguez running after Robin Padilla in India and later on married the guy. Knowing that Robin Padilla still has the 'babaero' image, though his religion allows him to do so.

Another reason maybe is that it tackles a culture that is very much different to ours. And adding the fact that it didn't have much publicity and marketing, not too many people including myself knew that it was actually a movie.
